“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” Virginia Woolf

Welcome to my food blog! My name is Yudith, and this excerpt from Virginia Woolf really fits me… I love food. I have a constant desire to cook, try new food, recipes, and feed my loved ones. I have always enjoyed cooking and baking, even when I was in elementary school.  I have really expanded my kitchen adventure in the more recent years because I wanted to experience different ingredients and techniques, and I am excited to be sharing this through my blog.

My husband, or “Red” (since he has red hair and green eyes), and I got married last two summers ago and we just welcomed our first child, a baby girl in July. We’re expecting our first baby (a girl!), due this year. I am lucky that I met someone who was (and still is!) as adventurous as I am, if not more when it comes to food, whether it’s dining out or at home. Actually, he has reddish, almost orange hair, he wanted me to correct it in this description. So there you go Honey! Red is my souz chef, part-time dishwasher, constant supporter and loyal tester.

Our 2-yr 3-yr old St. Bernard, Charlotte Mae, is a loyal observer, and wanna-be tester. She’s so dedicated in sniffing around to see if she can find any crumbs on the floor. Her big black nose has a talent for detecting the smell of bread, meat, or dairy.

If you’re just a foodie (or traveler) like me, drop me a note–I’d love to hear from you and share your adventure.

Very nice! Did you know this is a variation on croquettes? Italian cooks always use up leftovers, and my grandmother made almost the same thing with leftover mashed potatoes. It’s the kind of home cooking that never appears in a restaurant, but it’s exactly the kind of thing a thrifty Italian housewife might make herself for lunch. Leftover mashed potatoes are also the foundation for fishcakes and Baccala Mantecato

Yes!! I actually grew up eating croquettes in Indonesia. I even tried making it once, but they fell apart–like everywhere in the frying pan 😦 I mixed in some ground beef/turkey with the mashed potatoes. But I seem to have better luck making them without the ground meat and just stiff mashed potatoes 🙂

  5. Love your blog! Beautiful pictures and I find so many things here I’m dying to make on my own blog! I’ve been following for awhile and will definitely continue to do so!

I love anything made with pumpkin! And, quick bread made with pumpkin goes at the top of my list! Quick bread and coffee is a fast and easy breakfast, for days I’m rushing out the door! You’ve posted many recipes that I’ve tried, and have since become staples in my cooking repertoire. Keep up the good work! P.S. The thumbnail photo of Charlotte is adorable!
